As a result of being in the Real Estate industry, many of us see a lot of advertisements in our quest to place the perfect ad for the properties we have listed and while staying current in the marketplace we’re in. We also can be found sorting through other Real Estate ads looking for the Buyers that we are currently working with. Whether those ads are placed by other Realtors or Private Owners, we’re trying to match a property with a buyer and create a sell.
Other industries rely on self-employed individuals such as Realtors other Small Business Owners to create sales for their business and in-turn protect us through Health Insurance, IRA accounts and Life Insurance products. The run ads to attract us to their products. We know how Real Estate works, but what about our retirement? How much can you believe of what you hear?
How much do you really know about how IRA accounts work and how a Roth IRA conversion works? Some of us may not be keeping track, but there is an abundance of bad financial advice still floating around our public portals of knowledge. Some of it’s good, but some of it is still bad and that’s very unfortunate…..literally.
If you went to any city in the United States, small or large, you would have a hard time finding a classroom full of 8th graders learning how money works and what the difference in a stock, a mutual fund, and a bank CD is. There also isn’t a follow up class in high school to let our children know what the tax implications and the best strategy to pick for compounding interest strategies for retirement are either.
If you have an IRA, most likely it’s comprised of mutual funds and a few stocks or another combination of the both. It’s diversified, so you don’t get all of the down, which is why some only lost 15,000 in their IRA accounts. That means they got to keep some of the up, but their winners still didn't offset their losers (stocks & funds). Basically what I’m saying is if you’re in a current IRA, your retirement is sitting in a box on Wall Street, and you could lose every penny. If you lost 21% in 2008, and gained it back in 2009, you could be about -2 to -3 % because of the fees that money managers charge to your account that you may not be aware of. If you’re in a self-directed IRA, then you would be back to 0….still not good. You just gave up 2 years of your life for no reason. How would we all like to get the safety of the bank, with the opportunity of the market, but none of the risk? If your 100k was sittin in an FIA (Fixed Indexed Annuity), then you'd still have every dollar in your account to the point the market crashed and any ups that are experienced, you would have kept. Sometimes we make things harder than they have to be. It’s a lot easier than you think, and the sooner you become educated about your box of money sitting on Wall Street, the more you can make what you've worked hard for work for you. Realtors work hard for their money and some are more successful than others, but the fact is, we can’t all work for the rest of our lives. At some point, our money has to start working for us. Here are some more facts on just how that becomes reality. This is a 10 year strategy just to give an example and an overview of how it works.

INTEREST CREDITING STRATEGIES
This company is introducing a new generation of indexed linked annuity products. Instead of using a single index as the basis for its indexed interest, the Platinum Series Fixed Indexed Annuity uses multiple interest crediting strategies. You have the option to allocate all or a portion of your premium to any of the interest crediting strategies offered.
• Declared Rate Strategy [1]-This fixed interest strategy interest rate will be declared by Sagicor Life at the beginning of each one year term period and is guaranteed for the term. Interest will be credited daily to the declared rate account.
• Index Strategy [1] - S&P 500®, Stand Alone with a Cap-This is a one year point-to-point strategy based on an annual reset index strategy of the S&P 500® index. Interest is credited at the end of the year, and is based solely upon any positive change in the index value which is subject to a floor of 0% and a maximum equal to the Cap. The Cap is declared in advance, is guaranteed for one year and may change annually.
• Index Strategy [2] - Global Basket Index with a Participation Rate-This is a three year point-to-point strategy based on three indices in a "basket" - the Russell® 2000, the Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50® and the Hang Seng Index. Interest credited at the end of the term, which is defined as the earlier of the owner's death or three years. Interest is based solely upon the ending index value and starting index value for each of these three indices. 60% of the best performing index and 40% of the second best performing index are added together, and then multiplied by a participation rate which will be declared at contract issue. This is the Look-Back Option that is so very powerful.
