EXIT REALTY MUSIC CITY AGENT’S ARE ALWAYS ON DUTY:

Volunteering & Giving plus Real Estate Too!

On June 26th, I had the pleasure of working along side EXIT Realty Music City associate Cindy Holmes, simply giving out water to walkers raising funds for the Walk Me Home organization beginning at about 7:30am.

Walk Me Home is the signature fund-raising and awareness event for foster care in America. The unique part about this organization is that they are aware that everyone can not be a foster parent. But Walk Me Home is a great way to support the over 513,000 children in foster care; whether you are capable of being a foster care parent or not. All throughout the year thousands and thousands of walkers will participate in Walk Me Home events across the country, raising funds to support the life changing programs and activities of foster care associations throughout the United States.

The neat part about working along side volunteers is that you learn so much about the people that you are working with and Cindy Holmes is one awesome & giving human being! Although I have working with her for several years at EXIT Realty Music City I learned so much that I did not know about her. For example,  she actually owned her first home at age 15, she was employed as a crossing guard with the Nashville police department, she was a tour guide and she owned her own catering & craft business plus so much more! What a diverse women.

Cindy became involved with the Walk Me Home organization about two years ago, when a friend Nancy Woodall, TFACA President & the Foster Care Advocate Mid Cumberland Region called to ask if she could help with a Walk Me Home project. Cindy has been a faithful volunteer every since; finding corporate sponsors, searching for walkers & pledges to match the walkers even walking to raise funds to help foster care children and their foster care families caring for them. She & her husband donated the generators that ran the microphones & ice machines so that children could enjoy ice cups this year. I can’t fail to mention that Cindy has helped foster care children for many, many years: every year in November she is involved in the Suitcase Drive, which collects suitcases & duffle bags for the many children that are suddenly taken, with only the clothes on their backs. This drives gives the children at least something to call their very own during their sudden transition. She also helps with the Book Bag & School Supplies Drive, helping to raise supplies for children that can not afford the essentials for the start of the school year. There are so many other organizations & programs that Cindy is actively involved with.

I was able to help very quickly with a program that she mentioned during our time together; Nancy’s Closet. Nancy Woodall collects new and/or gently used prom dresses for the foster care girls that can not afford a prom dress. On Monday’s I try to drop by a local thrift store that I love to visit and I was blessed to pick-up 6 beautiful, unstained, nearly new prom dresses for this cause, at a very small cost. By Wednesday Nancy’s closet had additional prom dresses to help deserving girls look beautiful.

EXIT Realty Music City has been a corporate sponsor for the past two years helping the Walk Me Home children and we plan to continue to help in anyway we can. If you can help in anyway for any of the causes mention above or you are interested in buying and/or selling Real Estate please feel free to contact EXIT Realty Music City at 615-807-1204.
