Lake Wylie- A Great Place to Live and Work

 
Lake Wylie is a 12,455 acre man made lake created by Catawba Power Company in 1904. Lake Wylie lies on the borders of York County SC and Mecklenburg County NC. With 325 miles of shoreline, Lake Wylie is ideal for outdoor water activities like boating, fishing, water-skiing & sailing.

 
Tega Cay, The Palisades, RiverPointe, The Landing, River Hills and Handsmill on Lake Wylie are just a few of the great communities that are located on the shores of Lake Wylie.

 
The communities surrounding Lake Wylie enjoy great family activities on the lake. Every December is the Parade of Boats. Boat owners decorate their boats and parade on the lake. The Lake Wylie communities also enjoy a spectacular 4th of July fireworks display. For those living on the lake there is no need to travel any further than your back yard to enjoy the fireworks display.

 
Also situated on Lake Wylie is Camp Thunderbird which opened in 1936. Camp Thunderbird offers land and water activities in addition to summer resident camp, an environmental education center, day-camp, after school site and conference retreat center.

 
Lake Wylie provides the leisure and excitement of lakeside living with that comfortable, small town atmosphere. Lake Wylie is also convenient to regional commercial and cultural centers. This makes Lake Wylie the perfect place to live and do business.

 
Lake Wylie is only 17 miles from Charlotte, 15 miles from Rock Hill and 75 miles from Columbia- the capital of South Carolina. Lake Wylie also offers easy access to all points from I-85, I-77, Hwy 49 Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

I am glad to see that you are working in Lake Wylie. I grew up as a teenager hanging out on a boat there as I went to Fort Mill High, but it was really different back in the 80's. Would like to see pictures from that area. I also have family still in FOrt Mill so if they need an agetn ther I know who to call.

I have only lived in the area for just over 3 years and love it. It is fantastic to be able to work both NC and SC. And you are within a short drive of Charlotte and Rock Hill. I would be glad to email you some photos- anything in particular that you would like to see? Give me a week but I promise to send you some pics of the surrounding areas. I get near that area occassionally as I have friends in Lake NOrman area where I last lived and my Dad is a Charlotte resident and my brother lives in Salisbury.
