Rose Creek Gem Mine - One of Franklin NC's Finest Gem Mines Good, Clean, Dirty Fun... For The Whole Family! In my real estate related meanderings around the Franklin NC, Macon County area last week, I stumbled across the Rose Creek Gem Mine. Now, when I first came to Franklin NC in 1993, my kids were 12 and 16 years old. It was then that we had our first Gem Mining experience alongside 441 just south of Franklin. The kids loved this experience of sifting through dirt looking for GEMS, hoping to find "The Big One"!! It's been a long time since that outing nearly 17 years ago but the memory of it was refreshed in my mind vividly as I observed children, adults and adolescents having the time of their lives playing in the dirt with each other and looking for that ever anticipated "Big One" at Rose Creek Gem Mines
